An Invitation to Share Your Story
This essay contest has been designed to encourage an exchange of
host family memories and experiences via the written word and photographs.

IV. Writing Content:
1. Title of the article (please give your article a name by yourself)
2. Whether you were a Taiwanese host or were hosted by a family in , we welcome you to write about your experience.
3. We welcome all writing styles and genres, as long as the word count ranges from 300-600 words in either English or Chinese. At least 5 photos (as .jpg files if submission is emailed) should be included along with each written submission. There are no limits to the number of stories you may submit.
V. How to Submit Your Story:
1. Please download a Submission Form & Copyright Transfer Agreement all available at: http://www.hostfamily.org.tw/down/archive.php?class=103
2. Please send your Submission Form & Copyright Transfer Agreement, written story, and photos to the address or email below.
3. Each story you submit must have its own Submission Form and Copyright Transfer Agreement and be mailed separately.
VI. Evaluation Process:
1. These will be selected based on: Presentation (40%), Creativity (30%), and Photos (30%).
2. For each story selected, the author will receive a cash award of NT$1,000.
3. Essays that are selected will be posted on our website. Candidates that are nominated will be notified by email. Those who aren’t nominated will not be informed.
VII. Notes:
1. The event sponsor reserves the right to edit to all submitted works. If you don’t want your work to be edited, please notify us when you submit your story.
2. If the entry submitted by the applicant is found to contain the following, the sponsor reserves the right to nullify the participant’s work, demand an award refund, and prosecute:
a. The writing has already been published or submitted for a prior event.
b. The writing or photos have been plagiarized, forged, or fake or obtained in any illegal manner.
3. The event organizer reserves the right to cancel, halt, or make changes to this contest.
4. The winners of this contest must agree to give the MOE and the event sponsor all rights to their submitted stories and photos without remuneration.
5. By participating in this event, the applicant agrees to submit to all decisions made by the judging panel. The work and photos submitted for this event will NOT be returned; hence, the applicant must keep a copy of his/her work or photos if necessary. If any applicant is found to have infringed on any regulations pertaining to this event, the event sponsor reserves the right to cancel the applicant’s eligibility.
6. The event sponsor reserves the right to change how this event is held at any time. Changes will be posted on its website without further notice.
